Updates on our visit to IDP Camps

17th May 2015

Following our pre-assessment on the 2nd of May 2015, BringBackOurGirls Abuja in collaboration with Planned Parenthood Federation Nigeria (PPFN), Foundation for Refugee Economic Empowerment (FREE) , Victims of Violence, CyberLogik Foundation and other individuals embarked on a mission to support 112  Internally Displaced Persons from Borno, Adamawa and Yobe fleeing the insurgency from the north-east who are now based in Abaji in the Federal Capital Territory. In total 29 volunteers provided relief materials, 48 educational sponsorship to primary and secondary school children, health check ups for those who required assistance and sexual health and reproductive rights education to the women.
We would like to thank the many Nigerian organisations and individuals that donated food, clothing, bedding, toiletries, medical supplies, educational materials for which the outreach today would not have been successful. We call on the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons to ensure that those who are displaced by crisis and violence get the necessary assistance to rebuild their lives and that they are treated with dignity.
